In 1747, Sailors left England and they felt fine. But after a few months they were so tired they could barely walk. Their gums would be swollen and so sore it hurt when they ate. Their teeth are falling out, and their legs are swollen and purple from bruising. They had Scurvy. Scurvy is a disease they developed from a missing nutrient in their diet, vitamin C!
